You can walk to the Martinego bastion, the highest point of the castle. Here is also the grave of the famous Nikos Kazantzakis. In the old town centre we meet the Venizelos Square with the Venetian Morozini Fountain. The basilica of St. Mark, the Venetian Lotzia, beautiful fountains, old churches such as Agios Titos, the fortress, the Venetian shipyards and many more scattered monuments make our walk through the city unforgettable.
A visit to Heraklion's Archaeological Museum is a must. You can see one of the world's most important collections with objects from Knossos, Phaistos, Gortyna, Arhanes and other places of Crete. Nearby is the Historical Ethnographic Museum and ecclesiastical works of art, which is ten minutes, walk away from the hotel.
Beaches
West of the city and less than 5 km away towards Ammoudara, there are beaches where you can swim. The beautiful beaches, though, are located east of the city and start from Kartero (8 km) and end up at Malia (34 km). You can also find many taverns there.
Sports
Wind surfing. You can wind surf at the beaches mentioned above if you have your own wind surf. If you would like to rent one, you'll have to go a little further (Agia Pelagia or CHERSONISSOS). The large hotels of the area, though, usually have the necessary equipment required for water sports.

Night Life
In Iraklion there is a lot of taverns with Cretan music. Iraklion has practically everything one could ask. Buzukia, bars, pubs, discos, cinemas, its all there.

Malia: 37 km East of Iraklion. Spectacular tourist development over the last years. Archeological site, wonderful beach.
Stalida: 34 km E from Iraklion. Nice beach with modern tourist infrastructure.
CHERSONISSOS: Good shelter; Fuel & water in town; Nightlife.
Spinaloga: Excellent shelter; Anchored off; Fuel & water in town; Taverns.
